Treasurer

Walt Hagenbuch distributed the Treasurer’s Report.  The account balance as of 1/31/06 is $11,892.81. Any petty cash remaining will be added to the bank account and there will be no more petty cash funds allocated as it is too difficult to track them.  The Treasure’s report was approved.

Library Reports

Librarian- Barbara Mc Gary discussed the possibility of the Beavertown Library selling their own crocks. They would like some input from Friends. After discussion, Joyce agreed to give information on our crock sale to assist the Beavertown Library.

Families Learning, Family Literacy, Dept. of Ed. will not be funding the Selinsgrove Library’s Summer Reading Program. Barbara requested help from Friends; she will also be preparing a grant request for additional funding.

Janis motioned and Linda seconded to contribute $2,000 from Friends to the Library to help support the Summer Reading Program. The motion passed to give the Library $2,000 to help support the Summer Reading Program.

Barbara McGary requested help with stuffing envelopes and adding labels during the Snyder County solicitation months in June and December.  Our group agreed to provide assistance.

The Snyder County Libraries Newsletter has been published.  It is full of new book selections and reviews, programs and services, plus a calendar of events. Cheers to Betsy Fordon for her creativity.

 Committee Reports

Crocks- Linda announced that 2005 crocks are still available.  She and Joyce are considering designs for the 2006 crock.

Quilt Raffle- Linda will be making a quilt selection for the next quilt raffle. She would like to incorporate this in the newsletter.

Book Sale 2006- Liz reviewed the dates of other group’s book sales. We have selected Friday and Saturday April 28th & 29th for the sale.  Setup will be Thursday April 27th.  The Community Room is still the best location  for the sale.

Discussion Topics and Updates

Liz distributed the 2006 Budget which was prepared by Liz Heim, Janis Gemberling and Walt Hagenbuch and forecasts a profit of 12,650.  The 2006 budget was approved.

 Membership Drive-
Liz said that 387 letters were mailed for the membership drive.  Last year we had 95 members; currently we have 26.  Liz advised that mailing 387 letters cost only $61.19 at bulk mail rates versus $150.93 if sent non-bulk.  We should use bulk mail wherever possible.

Linda made a motion and Lynn seconded to adjourn the meeting.

The next Friends of the Selinsgrove Community Library board meeting will be Wednesday, March 8, 2006.

                                                                        Respectfully submitted,
