President
Elizabeth Heim called the meeting to order. Liz announced
that this would be strictly an informational meeting since a lack of
attendance did not permit a quorum.
1.
We now
have 104 members. Liz sent out letters to corporations and received one
new corporate membership.
2.
Liz Heim
and Margaret Siro attended the 20th Institute For Trustees
and Friends Convention on April 21-22 in Harrisburg. Liz represented
Friends groups for small libraries on a panel entitled “That’s What
Friends are For: A Panel of Success Stories”. Liz reported that it was
an excellent conference. Governor Rendell placed a large amount of
money in the general public library budget. The amount was in the range
of 75.5 million dollars. This is a good increase from last year’s
budget. Liz is requesting members to write to their representatives and
encourage them to accept the proposed budget. Liz gave everyone a sample
letter / comments with addresses of representatives to assist us in our
efforts.
Vice President
Just a reminder that Thrivent requests pre-approval for fund
raising monies. Friends will apply for pre-approval of the quilt raffle.
Secretary
The minutes of the April 12th meeting will be approved at
the next meeting.
