Officer Reports
President
Elizabeth Heim called the meeting to order.
Elizabeth announced that the Friends reception planned for October 25th has been cancelled.
Vice President
Deborah said we have the potential for earning $250 matching funds from Thrivent through the sale of tickets for the Celebration of Art and Wine to be held Saturday, November 18th at Shade Mountain Winery. Deborah has completed the paperwork requesting $400 in matching funds from Thrivent for our quilt raffle fundraiser.
Secretary
The minutes of the September meeting were approved.
Treasurer
The ending balance in the checking account as of 10-3-06 was $14,884.63. Janis mentioned that an additional 100 crocks were ordered prior to this meeting due to the great response at the Street Fair. The Treasurer’s report was approved.
Library Reports
Library Board Liaison – Betsy reported that a draft budget has been given to the Library Board. The rising costs have to be considered. The Library will have a new integrated system in the library, which will launch us technologically into the mainstream of information.
The Library Board will be forwarding correspondence to the Daily Item to compliment the Friends of the Library for the great job they have done.
Committee Reports
Merchandise-
The Book Lover’s Calendar will be on sale in the library. Friend’s members cost is $7: non-members cost is $8.00.
Tree Fest- December 1st at 7 PM Friends of the Library will have their annual decorators and sponsor reception to open the Tree Fest officially the following day. Friends board members are invited to the opening reception. Library board members will also be invited. There are decorators for 23 trees and 7 wreaths; there is room to have 2 more wreaths. Donated trees have not for the most part been satisfactory for use in Tree Fest. Deborah will collect those trees for transport to Haven Ministries who would like to have them. The ministry would also welcome the donation of holiday decorations; contact Deborah if you have something to donate to the Haven.
Fund Raising
Crock Sale – 292 crocks have been sold to date.
Linda Wieder will order another quilt for raffle in 2007.
Discussion Topics and Updates
Joyce Hendricks is working to issue a press release once a month on the activities of the Friends of the Selinsgrove Library
Friends of the Selinsgrove Library continuation into 2007-2008- We need to recruit more support and officers to carry on the jobs of the board.
Linda moved and Grace seconded to adjourn the meeting. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at 5:30 PM.
