Board Meeting Minutes

Officer Reports
President
Elizabeth Heim called the meeting to order. Elizabeth welcomed Patty Gaugler to the Friends Board. Patty will be helping Emily Johnson with merchandise. Liz announced good news that we now have a slate of officers. The following have agreed to serve if elected at the annual meeting in December.
Joyce Hendricks agreed to be President for two years
Emily Johnson consented to be Vice President for two years.
Deborah Bernhisel agreed to be Secretary for two years.
Janis Gemberling agreed to complete Walt’s term as Treasurer.
Joyce made a motion and Pat seconded to accept Janis Gemberling in the position as Treasurer. The motion passed to accept Janis Gemberling as Treasurer.
A motion was made by Emily and seconded by Janis that effective January 1, 2007 the following persons are authorized to sign Friends of the Selinsgrove Community Library checks: Joyce Hendricks, Janis Gemberling, and Elizabeth Heim. The motion passed. Two signatures are required on all checks
Vice President
Deborah said that forty tickets for the Celebration of Art and Wine had been sold. The Tree Fest invitations were distributed to the library board members.
Secretary
The October minutes were read and approved.
Treasurer
The ending balance in the checking account as of 10-31-06 was $13,387.29. Janis mentioned that payment was made for the additional 100 crocks. The Treasurer’s report was approved.
Library Reports
Library Board Liaison – Betsy reported that Barbara McGary would be returning on the 20th of November. Betsy will present a complete wish list in December.
Betsy mentioned that the Family Literacy Funds have been dropped. Liz suggested that the funds from Tree Fest go towards the Summer Reading Program.
Committee Reports
Membership
Liz suggested that we consider increasing the membership dues for 2007. Discussion was held regarding the pros and cons of increased membership dues; no changes will be made for 2007 dues.
Tree Fest- December 1st at 7 PM Friends of the Library will have their annual decorators and sponsor reception to open the Tree Fest officially the following day. Presently, all trees have sponsors. Tree Fest Committee is requesting cookie donations for Tree Fest opening. Posters for the Tree Fest were distributed to the members to place in the community’s local businesses.
Radio coverage on November 29th on WFYY Big Country will feature an interview with Joyce Hendricks and Liz Heim regarding the Tree Fest.
Fund Raising
Crock Sale– Pick up for crocks is Saturdays 10 AM-12PM.
Janis made a motion and Joyce seconded to give $20 Kind Café gift certificates to the library helpers for their kindness and assistance in the sale of the crocks and other merchandise throughout the year.
Discussion Topics and Updates
Joyce Hendricks sent a press release on the sale of the Selinsgrove High School crocks to the Daily Item and Snyder County Times.
Emily moved and Joyce seconded to adjourn the meeting. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 5:30 PM.
