Officer Reports
President
Elizabeth Heim called the meeting to order.
Members were welcomed to annual meeting.
Vice
President
Pat Wendt
reported that the Library Board discussed the Library budget, which will
probably be finalized by the next Library Board meeting on December 20th
at 7 PM in Middleburg. The Library Board has two new members; Lynn
Askew and Carol Zimmerman. Pat mentioned that there were other openings
to be filled.
Secretary
The
minutes of the November 9th meeting were approved.
Treasurer
Janis reported general contributions in
Nov/Dec of $2,015, monies from the crock sales totaled $2,880, and Tree
Fest earned $951.45. The ending balance at 12-12-05 was reported as
$18,041.93. The financial statement dated January 1, 2005 – December 12,
2005 was approved.
Library Reports
Librarian- Barbara Mc Gary distributed and
discussed the Library’s prioritized Wish List. At the top of the list
was the library’s wish to convert a van into a Storymobile to advance
the early literacy program.
Carol Bull moved and Deb Bernhisel seconded
to grant the library the monies to achieve the items on the Wish List.
The motion was passed to grant the library monies needed for the
purchase of the items on the Library’s Wish List, totaling $10,000.
Committee Reports
Tree Fest- Carol Bull reported that $200 has
been paid to All Saints for the use of the facilities for Tree Fest.
Carol stated that approximately 350 children came through the Trees Fest
2005. Tree Fest has been very well received in the community. Marsha
Moore form the Daily Item will write an article on the Tree Fest 2005.
Crock Sale– Joyce Bilger advised that she
had picked up an additional 100 crocks which are available for purchase
at the library during normal business hours.
Elections
Election of
Officers – Elizabeth Heim presented the Slate of Officers for 2006
Elizabeth Heim, President
Deborah Bernhisel for a one-year term as Vice President.
Walt Hagenbuch as Treasurer for a two-year term
Barbara Grubb, Secretary
Carol Bull moved and Grace Housley seconded
to approve the slate of officers for 2006 as presented. The motion
passed.
Liz Heim added that all the hard work given
to Friends in the past year by our retiring officers is very much
appreciated.
Discussion
Friends’
membership brochure has been revised for 2006 and is very attractive.
Volunteers
are needed to continue the Friends’ Web Site, Newsletter and Membership
Data Base; assistance is also needed in Publicity.
Annual Report- Liz Heim distributed a 2005
Annual Report to Members, commenting that Friends contributed $12,000 to
the library in 2004; we hope to contribute an equal amount at the end of
2005. The annual report summarized major fund raising and awareness
raising events in 2005 as well as challenges facing the Friends group.
Charles Bull moved and
Joyce Bilger seconded to adjourn the meeting. The next meeting will be
held January11th at 5:30 PM.
A
reception with light refreshments was enjoyed by participants after the
meeting.
