Officer Reports
President
Elizabeth Heim called the
meeting to order. Liz thanked Deborah for making the tree donations to
Haven Ministries.
Vice President
The matching funds from Thrivent for the quilt sale were given to Janis. Deborah will be giving Thrivent the funds from the Celebration of Arts and Wine Festival.
Secretary
The November minutes were read and a correction was made to the minutes. The correction states that when the officers are elected they will be authorized to sign the checks.
Treasurer
The ending balance in the checking account as of 12-07-06 was $18,881.13. The Treasurer’s report was approved.
Library Reports
Library Board Liaison –Barbara McGary is the interim director of the library. Barbara encouraged members to check out the new services in the library. An article was in the Daily Item about the new integrated library system.
Barbara is a representative on the Central Pennsylvania Libraries System.
Barbara discussed the Libra Foundation Grant. The foundation will give the library $1,050 of children’s books of our choice with a donation of $350.
Grace made a motion and Emily seconded to give the Libra Foundation a donation of $350. The motion passed to give the Libra Foundation $350.
Wish List
Summer Reading Program
Preschool Connection Grant
Five Receipt Printers and Paper
Inventory Manager
Debra Bernhisel made a motion and Joyce Hendricks seconded to give $10,000 to the library to fund the wish list. The motion passed to give the library $10,000.
Committee Reports
Tree Fest- Attendance to date at the Tree Fest was 739 visitors (includes at least 60 children in separately scheduled groups).
In 2005 Tree Fest earned, after expenses, about $1100. The goal for 2006 was set at $2100 and its looking fairly good to achieve earnings of $2100 after expenses.
Emily Johnson made a motion and Pat Reiland Hess seconded to donate a children’s book of the library’s choice to the library for the following 3 Tree Fest prizes: Favorite Tree and Favorite Wreath. Each book would include a bookplate showing the decorator’s name, the prize designation and the Tree Fest of Children’s Books 2007.
Fund Raising
Crock Sale– Joyce Bilger said we have approximately 42 crocks left to sell.
Merchandise – Emily thanked the library board for their donations to Friends.
Publicity- Joyce Hendricks said she would get pictures of the winners of Tree Fest to send to the newspapers.
Annual Report
Liz passed out copies of the Annual Report to the members. Liz reviewed items with the committee.
Election
Elizabeth Heim asked if there were any nominations from the floor. No additional nominations were made. The secretary cast a unanimous ballot for our new slate of officers.
Joyce Hendricks will be President for two years, term expiring 12/31/08
Emily Johnson will be Vice President for two years, term expiring 12/31/08
Deborah Bernhisel will be Secretary for two years, term expiring 12/31/08
Joyce Bilger moved and Emily Johnson seconded to adjourn the meeting. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 5:30 PM.
