Library Open House
The Friends organization found this to be a deeply satisfying initiative. It really doesn’t get much better than this – when every $1 donated purchases $3 in books. As a sponsor of the library, Friends of the Selinsgrove Community Library donated $350; this gift was doubled by the Libri Foundation ($700), giving the library $1,050 to purchase children’s books. We are proud to have partnered with the library in this effort in which fund-raising by the Friends, coupled with the library’s knowledge of available grants and administrative work to pursue and secure same, resulted in a significant addition to the library’s supply of children’s books - books which will entertain, educate and enrich the children in our community. Each volume bears a bookplate acknowledging the book as a gift of the Friends of the Selinsgrove Community Library and The Libri Foundation. |
The Selinsgrove Community Library was a happy place on Wednesday, March
2, 2005. Children and parents wandered among tables displaying new children’s
books, many of them award winning volumes, and enjoyed cookies, iced tea
and milk. The occasion was an open house hosted by the library to present
the Friends of the Selinsgrove Community Library/Libri Foundation grant
books to the parents and children of our community. It was wonderful to
see the pleasure and interest on the youngsters’ faces and to realize
how thrilled many were to be the very first person to check out a brand
new book.
