Children were encouraged to wear a costume or just bring their magic wands! The festivities began with Hannah Bingaman singing a Hogwarts song while playing her banjo.
Everyone was sorted into houses just like in the stories. There were many activities including: Crafting Magic Wands, a Library Scavenger Hunt, 2 Harry Potter Trivia Quizzes (one hard and one easy), make a Magic Hat Photo Magnet, and making a crystal ball necklace. There was also a Bertie Botts' Every Flavour Beans tasting contest. Watch out for the pepper, dirt and earwax flavored ones! Friends of the Selinsgrove Community Library donated $200.00 to the library for their Harry Potter event - $100.00 for costume rental and $100.00 for the purchase of additional circulation copies of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
