Special 2005 Event One Book:The Killer Angels was a regional project presented by five public libraries to promote community-wide reading and discussion of the same book. The participating libraries are Degenstein Community Library of Sunbury, Milton Public Library, Montgomery House Warrior Run Area Public Library, Priestley Forsyth Memorial Library of Northumberland and Selinsgrove Community Library. The book: The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara won the Pulitzer Prize. It is considered to be the classic novel of the Civil War and is the basis of the movie Gettysburg. Many events were scheduled in connection with this project from July into October 2005. Some highlights were:
Jeff Shaara signs Joyce Bilger's book Friends of the Selinsgrove Community Library served on the One Book:Killer Angels Planning Committee, sponsored the book discussion group led by Sandra Kohler at the Kind Cafe and arranged the Gettysburg bus trip. *Jeff Shaara has published six books including Gods and Generals and The Last Full Measure, sequel to The Killer Angels.
