More than
1100 people visited our Sixth Annual Tree Fest of Children's
Books. Public school, pre-school and private schools scheduled
class trips during the times the event is not open to the
public, allowing hundreds of children to enjoy, with their
peers, the wonder and fun of Tree Fest.
The net profit of $2,200 from Tree Fest has been donated to
the library and will help fund Snyder County Libraries 2010
Summer Reading Program, which is available to all children in
Snyder County.
The library’s December pre-school story hours were held at Tree
Fest with community members reading to the kids. This is always
a hit with the children and their family members.
Many people work together to make Tree Fest such a wonderful
community event. Selinsgrove Area Rotary Club gave us hours of
volunteer help during setup and Kohl's Department Store’s A-Team
provided 15 hours of volunteer help during clean-up, and a $500
grant through their community program which supports childhood
literacy. We’re deeply grateful to each and every person who
volunteers time to help out – thank you all!

At the end of Tree Fest, many of the decorators donated the book
they chose to the library for the library's collection of
children's books.
Each year one of the features
of Tree Fest is the silent auction. A number of decorators
allow their creation to be auctioned to the highest bidder in a
silent auction. Visitors can browse Tree Fest and if their
favorite tree or wreath is one of those available for auction,
they can write a bid in the Tree Fest auction book. The
highest bidder gets to take home the exhibit at the end of Tree
Fest. This feature of Tree Fest not only raises money for
the library, but allows visitors to obtain a beautifully
decorated tree or wreath for their holiday enjoyment.

There are so many people
involved in making Tree Fest a success and our
thanks go to all those who participated in this terrific event!
